I am so beyond excited to announce LED lashes are entering the beauty industry with a BANG. The moment I heard about this concept it was during the summer of 2023 and I had my eyes on it since. The idea of having FULL control of my curing process will change the game for me as a professional lash technician and you as my honourable client. I found Beautibeam to be the most efficient, honest and responsive company to share their technology and education on it as well. If any of you know me at all you know that education is EVERYTHING to me so knowing I can rely on them for accurate information is comforting for not only me but obviously you as well!.
The first question I had was probably the one you are asking yourself right now was "is this safe?".. Let me take you through @BeautiBeams studies.
" Let's Begin; What is Beautibeam?
Beautibeam system is a new way of applying and adhering eyelash extensions that benefits from cutting edge science and engineering in the field of physics and chemistry.
What is the difference between the Beautibeam system and traditional lash application?.
In an oversimplified way, traditional lash adhesives have certain types of ingredients that are liquid in preserved conditions, but when they encounter moisture, they start to react and solidify. Therefore, when the lash tech dips the lash extensions into glue, and then applies it on the natural lash, the lash glue solidifies in actions to the moisture in the environment and in contact with the natural lash which is close to the eye.
This system has multiple issues... here's why.
1.Lash techs must always control the environments humidity and temperature to be able to work with the glue properly.
2. Due to the nature of their ingredients, they release significant amounts of fumes before and during the adhesion process.
3. The lash tech doesn't have control over the speed of adhesion, therefore, the lash tech must keep a steady pace during the entire application fo each eyelash extension that she/he puts on.
4. The bonding process can be unpredictable and difficult to control, potentially leading to varying bond strengths for each applied lash extension, causing a higher probability of poor retention.
5. Although that almost all glues are suppose to retain the eyelash extensions until the end of the client's natural lash cycle; it's rarely the case.
Beautibeam, works with a different type of adhesive formulation that solidifies in reaction to a very minimal exposure of ultra-violet/ almost blue light. Adhesive max (Beautibeam adhesive) contains a different type of ingredient than traditional adhesives called photo-initiators, that are photo-reactive, which means they react and solidify in a contact with light instead of moisture.
These types of adhesives have been used for many other purposes for years, for example: one of the earliest and most well known applications of reactive adhesives is in dental procedures. Dentists use them to bond braces to teeth, as well as for filling cavities with composite resins. The rapid curing of the adhesive allows for quick dental procedures.
What are the ground breaking differences between Beautibeam adhesive and traditional adhesives?
1.Adhesive max's retention and bond strength is at least 2 times more than even the best traditional adhesives. Client's will retain at least 2 times more lashes in the same time frame.
2.Humidity and temperature no longer have any relevance or impact.
3.Because the adhesion process/drying/curing process occurs much faster and more consistently, it speeds up the lash application process by up to 20%, which reduces the appointment duration up to 20%.
4.Due to Adhesives max's formation and its ingredient nature, the thin liquid will produce very minimal fumes, much less than any other traditional lash glue, even the sensitive ones.
5.The lash tech has control over the speed of adhesion, by controlling the amount of exposure to Lumina Pro LED. By controlling the duration of exposure and the distance between the LED and the adhesive.
What is unique about Beautibeam?
The main true innovation about beautibeam, is the formulation and production of adhesive Max. We've put a significant amount of effort to get the formulation right.
The second unique innovation of beautibeam is it's LED technology; we call it precisionLED. Although that ultra-violet or blue light LEDs are not anything new, we put a lot of care in designing the LED in a way that it produces the right of light in the right amounts.
So, is beautibeam safe?
To answer that questions, we need to first define what "safe" actually is. There are many definitions and stands for something to be safe, based on a country's regulations, cultural beliefs and personal preferences.
There are many substances and activities that are poisonous and directly damage our bodies, with no actual benefit, and still millions of people either consider them safe, or still engage with them with the acceptance of risks. Things such as: alcohol, sugar, fast food, smoking, solar beds, sun for too long, and ect.
Now that we understand, safety is subjective, we at beautibeam, define something safe, as something that will not impose any extra risk than other day to day actives that 90% of the population engage with on a regular basis.
So in this case, because Beautibeam uses an Ultra-violet/blue light LED, we'd compare the safety to natural exposure to the sun, on regular sunny day.
The light, as a form of energy or matter (scientist haven't decided on which one is the right answer), has a spectrum of wave lengths. The lights with the wavelength of 400 nano meter up to 700 nano meter we call the visible light. Once range below the visible light is called ultra violet, and one range above visible light is called inferred. The shorter the wavelengths of light radiation is, the more powerful it will be.
Now what is the ultra Violet light, also known as UV?
Ultra violet lights, range from 100nm up to 400nm with a quite wide range, it will break down to 3 categories: UVA (315-400nm). UVB (280-315 nm) UVC (100-280 nm). When we talk about UV, it's crucial to be specific about which type of UV were talking about. UVC is the strongest form UV which naturally is blocked by the earth atmosphere and doesn't reach us, UVB is weaker than UBV and its associated with sun burn and skin cancer, and UVA is the least form of UV, and its associated with skin pigmentation. What beautibeam uses is a specific wave length of UVA which is 395 nm, which is the least for of UV light, and its almost blue light. For the reference, solar beds usually use a 365 nm wavelength, with typical 200W lamps. Which people usually need to use for 8-20 minutes straight for 3-5 sessions to be able to see visible results. What beautibram uses is a 5 watt LED with 395 nm wavelength, for only 2-3 seconds, then when an average gap of 3 seconds, for a maximum number of 240 seconds. Tho that the total exposure might be around 240 seconds, but because the gaps in between, it dramatically reduces the impact of the light on the skin. To put things into perspective Lumiina pro's impact during a full set lash appointment is 400 times less than a 10 minute tanning session, and 40 times ess than a 10 minute direct exposure to the sun.
The FDA has approved the use of 395nm UV light for germicidal purposes. It also says that using UV lights below 400nm (the visible spectrum) does not pose a risk to humans.
Health experts recommend 10 minutes of low Ange sunlight exposure daily, primarily for health advantages like vitamin D production.

How do we maximize safety?
Our rule is minimizing the amount of exposure to any unnecessary light by:
1.Constantly improving upon adhesive max to require less exposure to work perfectly.
2. a technology that we call, precisionLED, to control the wavelength that is being produced by the LED, and keep it on a single wavelength of 395 and above.
3. advising to use proper eyepatches and tape placement to minimize the area of exposed skin and keeping approbate distance and angle of LuminaPro beam from the lashes during application.
If the product is safe, then why do we insist on safety?
as a professional guideline, we always aim to provide as much safety and comfort for customers and clients aiming towards perfection. '' - www.beautibeam.com
